Description. Deane’s History of Scituate is still regarded as the best introduction to the early history of the town and its settlers. The first half of the book gives a concise treatment of the town’s settlement and progress, ecclesiastical history, manufacturing, military affairs, and so on.
David Corbin and John Galluzzo have both grown up on the history of the Massachusetts South Shore, each earning a bachelor's degree in history from the state university system. Corbin, a former social studies teacher, now serves as the Scituate Historical Society's Grand Army Hall Committee chairman, guiding the preservation program for the Author: Scituate Historical Society.
There are several versions of how Humarock got its name, including how a group of Tories slept along the beach one night in Colonial times and were awoken to the sound of the “humming rocks” as the surf rolled ashore.
